The Healing Activity of Mānuka Honey

The powerful antibacterial activity of Mānuka Honey UMF® is mainly caused by the high MGO  (Methylglyoxal) content. This antibacterial activity of MGO  is enhanced by the presence of certain non-antibacterial components in Mānuka Honey. The combination (at least for what concerns MGO, the quantity present) of these ingredients in Mānuka Honey, is crucial for the level of non-peroxide antibacterial activity of Mānuka Honey.
